Manly Community Kindergarten is a community-based, not-for-profit Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten nestled on the grounds of the Harman Reserve. Established in 1992, our kindy offers a Queensland Government Approved Kindergarten Program to pre-school age children.

Our Kindy

Manly Community Kindergarten is a not-for-profit centre, meaning all profits and moneys raised go back into the kindergarten to give your child the most memorable educational experience . Our kindy is affiliated with The Gowrie (QLD) Inc., a leader in early childhood programs for over 70 years. This means that everything, including staff, educational programs and equipment, is of an approved high standard.

This is now confirmed by rating from the Queensland Government Department of Education, Training and Employment, who have awarded us with an MEETING rating! For more information on what this means, please see HERE.

Manly Community Kindergarten caters for children aged 3.5 to 4.5 years (pre-Prep). One of the unique features of our kindy is that it is a single unit centre, meaning there is only one group (with a maximum of 22 children) attending each day. The Blue Group attends on Mondays, Tuesdays and alternate Wednesdays, while the Red Group attends Thursdays, Fridays and alternate Wednesdays. Each group has an Early Education Childhood Teacher (minimum qualification 4 year university degree) and a Teaching Assistant (minimum qualification Cert III in Childcare).

Why Choose Manly Community Kindergarten?

For more than 20 years, families have experienced the memorable environment of our special kindy. Reasons your family will love Manly Community Kindergarten include:

  • Continuity – your child is with the same 22 children and same teachers every day they attend, giving them the best chance to develop strong friendships and connections. You will meet the same parents every day at kindy drop off and pick up times, which also helps foster those deep connections and sense of community.
  • Highly qualified staff – all our wonderful teachers have university qualifications in Early Childhood Education and are registered with the Queensland College of Teachers. Our assistant, Vicki Allen, has a Certificate III and has been working at Manly Community Kindergarten for over 20 years. All staff have Senior First Aid/CPR, Anaphylaxis/Asthma Management training and hold Blue Cards. In order to keep up to date with current best practice in early childhood education, our teachers engage in a range of professional development experiences and go ‘above and beyond’ to give their very best to the children in their care.
  • Community-based, not-for-profit – our kindy is not-for-profit, meaning all funds raised are reinvested back into the kindy. As a community-based centre, the kindy is managed by a committee of dedicated parent volunteers that is elected annually. Parents can volunteer to take up various positions on the committee, attend the monthly meetings and actively participate in the kindy’s maintenance rosters, social events and fundraising activities. Being community-based allows us to tailor our kindy to the needs of local children and families.
  • Small centre – being a single unit kindergarten means there is only one group of 22 children attending the kindy each day. This gives the children the freedom to have all of our wonderful facilities to themselves to explore and feel at home from the very first day. Manly Community Kindergarten is the only single unit kindy in the Wynnum-Manly area.
  • Natural environment – set amongst the leafy trees of the surrounding Harman Reserve, our beautiful playground facilities provide children with hours of investigation and delight.
  • Exceeding national standards – in 2014, we were awarded an ‘Exceeding National Quality Standard’ rating under the National Quality Framework by the QLD Government Department of Education and Training. This means you can be confident that education and care we provide is of the highest quality.
  • Kindy ‘Tick’ – Manly Community Kindergarten is an Approved Kindergarten Program Provider as outlined and assessed by the Queensland Government, Office for Early Childhood Education and Care. The Kindy Tick alerts and assures parents that the kindy program provided is delivered by qualified teachers and that the centre and program provides quality education.
